In November 2007, Bill Ruck purchased property on the island of Sal in Cape Verde Formally in the armed forces, Bill is now a diving instructor and wild-life charter boat operator in Scotland. Bill found that the surroundings of Cape Verde were ideal for him and his family to have a holiday home. When asked why he chose Cape Verde Bill comments: “The climate in was ideal, the area was naturally beautiful with a certain rawness that appealed to me. "Having had a look at some of the property available, I could see it was built to a high standard and resembled the same quality as those built in Europe" he added. Bill recognised that Cape Verde was a growing market for both property investment and holiday makers and saw the rental as well as the high capital growth potential. Bill bought his property through Ohlsson Properties, he explains: "I arranged to meet Olsson and one other property agent on a visit to Cape Verde. The property Bill decided on was ideal for his needs: "It was near the town and not too remote like some of the other places I had seen. There is development going on in the region and the property I chose is near all amenities, an aqua park, a casino and crucially; not too far from the beach." "The whole thing was built to a high standard and the area is safe for the kids." On the buying process, Bill remarks "I got a good deal and there is potential for renting out the property. The whole process went fairly smoothly, Ohlsson were there every step of the way to deal with any difficulties that might occur." When asked if he had any advice to other prospective buyers in Cape Verde, Bill says "Visit the place first, and do some of your own research about the area and the properties.
