Brava is one of the most remote islands of the archipelago, but is certainly one of the greenest. Brava offers a wide range of vegetation and flora for the visitor. The lush, tropical gardens give a peaceful and tranquil feel good factor to the island. One of the most distinct features of Brava is that it is shrouded in an almost permanent mist. Against the backdrop of the tropical greenery, Brava is without a doubt one of the prettiest islands of Cape Verde. Its capital, Vila de Novo Sintra, is located 500m above sea level and is surrounded by lush greenery and vegetation. It has retained its traditional charm and has yet to become touristically commercialized. Away from the town is the only beach on Brava; a black sandy beach in a nice little bay. Brava is more suited for agriculturists and walkers / hikers than anything else. It doesn't have any other water sports such as surfing or diving. This island offers wonderful opportunities for photography. Brava does not have any large hotels, but offer a number of smaller B & B's (bed and breakfasts for visitors. Brava is a 1hr ferry ride away from Fogo.
